A hidden mountain landscape in northern Guangdong where golden rice fields, sea-of-clouds scenery and traditional Lingnan rural heritage create some of the province’s most breathtaking natural views, far from the megacities and skyscrapers of the Pearl River Delta.

Tucked away in the mountains of northern Qingyuan, the Oujia Terraces are among Guangdong’s most spectacular rural landscapes. Main activity of the Oujia Village in Lianshan County, these layered rice terraces transform with the seasons into a breathtaking panorama of golden fields, misty mountains and mirror-like water reflections.

-Often compared to the famous terraces of Yunnan and Guangxi, Oujia Terraces remain one of Guangdong’s lesser-known natural gems, offering a peaceful escape into the heart of Lingnan’s mountain countryside.-

Built along steep hillsides by local farming communities over generations, the terraces follow the contours of the mountains like giant natural stairways. Depending on the season, the scenery changes dramatically. At sunrise and sunset, fog drifts through the valleys while soft light reflects off the terraces, creating one of the most photogenic landscapes in Guangdong.

Northern Guangdong’s Rural Culture

The terraces are located in an area inhabited by ethnic minority communities, especially the Yao people, whose traditions still influence local architecture, food and agricultural practices.

In Oujia, visitors can discover:
