This is one of Guangdong’s most unexpected landscapes : the Xuwen Pineapple Sea. During harvest season, endless pineapple plantations transform the countryside into a breathtaking golden ocean, earning the region the poetic nickname Sea of Pineapples
Located in Xuwen County, Zhanjiang, this tropical agricultural paradise is considered one of the most beautiful rural landscapes in Guangdong and one of China’s most unique fruit-growing destinations.

China’s Largest Pineapple Production Base

Surprisingly, China’s biggest pineapple-producing region is not Hainan the southest island it is Xuwen County !

The area produces more than 40% of China’s pineapples, making it the country’s leading pineapple-growing area. Thanks to the volcanic soil, tropical climate, and abundant sunshine of the Leizhou Peninsula, the pineapples here are famous for their sweet flavor, juicy texture and golden color.

A Sea of Pineapples

Every spring, especially from April to May (we recommand you to choose this period to visit it), the pineapple fields reach their most beautiful season and rows of ripe golden pineapples stretch endlessly across rolling hills, creating wave-like patterns that resemble a rainbow ocean from above.

At sunset, the fields become even more magical as warm golden light spreads across the tropical farmland.

• Harvest season: February to April
• Recommended Season → April to May → peak pineapple harvest season (when the fields are busiest and most colorful)
