This vast heritage park recreates the grandeur of Beijing’s legendary Old Summer Palace, offering visitors a chance to experience the architectural beauty and royal atmosphere of the Qing dynasty in southern China.

Step into imperial China at New Yuan Ming Palace, one of Zhuhai’s main cultural landmarks.

Built as a tribute to the original Yuanmingyuan, which was destroyed in 1860, the park combines majestic palaces, classical Chinese gardens, lakes, and European-inspired architectural elements.
More than a historical reconstruction, it is an immersive journey into imperial aesthetics, court culture, and traditional performance arts.

Opened in 1997, New Yuan Ming Palace covers approximately 1.4km² and reproduces 18 scenic sites inspired by the original Old Summer Palace at a 1:1 scale for selected structures. Though smaller than the original Beijing complex, it captures much of its grandeur through carefully reconstructed pavilions, ceremonial halls, bridges, and landscaped gardens.

Highlights

At the heart of the park lies Fuhai Lake, surrounded by elegant imperial buildings and traditional gardens. The reflections of palaces on the water create some incredible photogenic views.

One of the most fascinating aspects of the site is its blend of architectural styles. Alongside traditional Qing imperial structures, visitors will also encounter Western-style mansions, Roman fountains, and Baroque-inspired elements, echoing the original Yuanmingyuan’s famous East-West fusion.

The park also hosts cultural performances, including historical reenactments, dance shows, and evening spectacles inspired by imperial court life.
