## Foshan · Bijiang Village
---
Founded in the early Southern Song Dynasty, Bijiang Village was one of the four main market towns of Shunde during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Known as a village of scholars, Bijiang has produced 26 imperial scholars (jinshi) and 145 successful candidates in the imperial examinations (juren). These families built ancestral halls, mansions, and gardens, creating a rich cultural heritage.
Today, Bijiang Village retains the same poetic charm: blue-brick houses, grey-tiled roofs, and a dense network of rivers—an idyllic water townscape that mirrors the lines once penned by ancient poets.
