The Chunwan Stone Forest is famous for jagged rock formations and lush green surroundings. The site is often described as a miniature karst world hidden among the mountains of southern China. Blending caves, stone pillars, cliffs and peaceful rural scenery, Chunwan Stone Forest offers visitors a completely different side of Guangdong, far from the megacities and coastal skylines.
Formed over millions of years through erosion and geological activity, the stone forest features towering limestone formations sculpted into unusual shapes by wind and rain. In addition to the stone forest itself, the area also includes geological formations created by underground water systems. Walking through the scenic area, visitors can discover natural caves, grottoes, pathways, mountain viewpoints, dense subtropical vegetation...
Many of the rocks resemble animals, towers or mythical figures, giving the landscape a mysterious atmosphere often associated with traditional Chinese paintings.
Spring Bay Landscape
The scenic area takes its name from Chunwan (Spring Bay), a peaceful valley surrounded by karst mountains and countryside. The region is beautiful after rainfall, when mist drifts between the peaks and also during sunrise and sunset.
Photographs often compare the scenery to less crowded parts of Guilin or Yunnan.
