Wanlü Lake

This emerald lake is a spectacular ecological lake in Heyuan, Guangdong. Famous for its crystal-clear waters, lush islands, and scenic cruises, it is one of southern China’s top nature and eco-tourism destinations.

Located in Heyuan, Guangdong Province, Wanlü Hu 万绿湖, literally meaning Lake of Ten Thousand Greens is one of the largest and most beautiful ecological lakes in southern China and has become a popular destination for eco-tourism and slow travel.

The lake was formed after the construction of the Xinfengjiang Reservoir and today covers more than 370km². It contains over 300 islands and peninsulas scattered across pristine waters, creating one of Guangdong’s most photogenic natural landscapes. Surrounded by subtropical forests and rolling green mountains, the lake offers breathtaking landscapes often described as an emerald inland sea. Its name comes from the year-round greenery reflected across the water.
